Unexplained charges from my credit card by Avis

R6,700 was debited from my account following the return of a rental vehicle hired from Avis Namibia.

I am a South African citizen, and I rented a vehicle from Avis Windhoek airport office for a 5-day period from Upon collection, I paid the agreed-upon deposit as clearly stipulated in the rental contract. The vehicle was returned in the same condition it was collected, and there were no issues communicated to me at the time of return. However, the following day a charge of R6,700 was debited from my credit card with no prior communication or explanation.No such charge was stipulated in the signed contract. I was not informed of any damages, penalties, or additional fees upon return or thereafter. I have not received any formal invoice or breakdown of the R6,700 charge. This unexpected and undocumented deduction is unacceptable.
