The Collision of Avis

I am extremely disappointed today in Avis. In all our years we have never experienced what happened today, 18 October 2019. When we asked the counter at Avis, Ben Fishmer Bloemfontein International Airport, we gave the primary driver's licence for them. They then told us that the primary driver and the person to whom the credit card belongs that made the booking, have to be the same person. We have hired tons of cars in the past in the manner that we hired today's car and never has it been a problem that the primary driver is another person than the person who's credit card booked the car. It was also not stated on the website that the same person who's credit card was used, has to be the primary driver. They then insisted the person who's credit card was used, to give their driver's licence in order to be the primary driver. They then said that the person who actually wants to drive, then has to pay an extra fee because he is not the primary driver. Eventually after a long debate and paying extra, they then did not even give us the car that we booked, but a different one. So in essence we booked a car, but did not receive the car which we booked. Does that mean that our car actually was never booked? Why then do we have to book a car beforehand? After receiving the keys to the car which they gave us we went to the car, without any staff because they did not insist in coming with to go through damages done on the car. We loaded our luggage and then checked the car for damages. There were a lot of sc****s and a few damages that had to be noted but we had to go call a staff member in order to report it. We have never had to do this. Usually at any car rental service a staff member accompanies us to go through damages on the car. The last straw for me was when the staff member arrived and the first thing they mentioned is that they first want to see if the spare tire is there and all the needed equipment to change it is there. Is it not standard that the car rental company should ensure this beforehand? We then had to unload all our luggage again in order to do Avis's job. NEVER will we rent a car from them again.
