Super cover = super ***** service
I hired a car from Avis in August, for a work trip. I asked for "all insurance, cover everything". I got the super cover. Unfortunately during the work trip a 3rd party damaged the car; they kindly left all their details and reported the incident to their insurance and sent me the Police case number the next day. I spoke to Avis, and when returned the car filled in the accident form and provided all the information from the third party including the police case number. I thought everything was sorted. Nope, turns out the super cover has an excess of R23 000. The damage cost just over R13 000, which I had to pay - according to Avis, I had to pay this before they could start the insurance claim. Early September I received a rude letter of Demand from Avis for the difference between the deposit I had paid and the cost of the damage - although I had already paid this several days earlier. Then later September I get a call asking for the details of the incident and the third party, and again twice in October - despite having sent this via email several times already. Avis did finally submit a claim to the third party's insurance, who have duly paid Avis, but its now January 2020 and Avis still hasn't paid me, despite having sent several emails of demand. The only reason I know anything has happened is because I've been chasing Avis, at no point have they been communicating with me as to what is going on. This service is pathetic and **********. And make sure you read exactly what you are getting before you sign anything.... super cover sounded like even the bugs in the windshield had been insured, they weren't and the excess was R23000! (Lucky I took this insurance else the excess was the replacement value of the car).
