Shame on you AVIS

You have failed me and humiliated me Avis Southern Africa. You left me standing late at night, in the rain, crying my eyes out.

On the 3rd of May I paid for my rental car using my TymeBank ZA VISA card through Momentum Multiply Tonight when I got to Avis Car Rental Cape Town they asked me for my credit card to charge the holding Deposit. I gave them my Tymebank card. The lady at the counter said that unfortunately they wont accept the card. I dont have any other credit cards except this one. Well, she said, she is very sorry and she doesnt know what I am going to do because they dont accept Tymebank. But it is a VISA card I said, and their terms and conditions clearly state that they accept VISA. She called her manager. The manager came out and said she has never ever heard of Tymebank before. What type of a bank is this? I told her that the bank is in Pick and Pay. In PNP she asked and started smirking. No she says, I have NEVER seen a Tymebank or heard about this bank. Is this a real bank? She needs a credit card from a real bank like the big banks that she knows. I told her that Tymebank is a real bank. I told her that my Tymebank card was charged for the car. There is nothing she can do for me. She wouldnt even try to swipe the card to see if it will work. I asked the initial receptionists how can I get a refund now? Well, she said, go back to PNP they must give you a refund. Go back to PNP? I paid you! I said to her. I went into my bank statement to show her that the money went off and it was paid directly to AVIS. She wouldnt even look at the statement. Sorry, there is nothing we can do for you. And gave my card back to me. Oh, I said, so you will give me a refund? Yes, I have your details she said. So where will you pay my money into? I asked. Well, into the bank where you paid us from. Umh.....into the bank that you said doesnt exist? Nowhere on your terms and conditions does it state that you dont accept Tymebank cards.

So, I was forced to walk back with my luggage to the airport, crying, not knowing what to do. Eventually I got a taxi, who charged me R350 to take me to the hotel and now I have to get a taxi every single day to take me to my venue and back for 4 days and get a taxi back on Sunday to the airport.

I have never ever felt so helpless like you have made me feel tonight AVIS. Shame on you. I am parting ways with you. Momentum Multiply I will never use this traveling partner again. TymeBank ZA maybe one day they will recognize you as a real bank in Cape Town.

Hi Mrs Gouws,

Thank you for contacting us, we are truly sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you had with us, it sounds like a deeply disappointing and stressful situation, especially when you were left stranded and inconvenienced after making arrangements in good faith. It's unacceptable that our staff were dismissive and unhelpful, failing to acknowledge a legitimate form of payment and not exploring alternative solutions to assist you, this is not the level of service we strive for with our customers.
We have sent your comments to the branch manager for investigation and in the interim have sent a communication to our refunds depart to assist with refunding the prepaid amount on your rental, we will advise with feedback on this.

Thanks.

Avis Team.
