SERVICE TAKING THE BACK SEAT

On !st of November I met up in a motor vehicle accident, My insurance provides me with a courtesy vehicle. Avis was the rental company that was suppose to provide me with a vehicle. From the first call i received i was already frustrated. The person from HQ called me trying to arrange a vehicle while keeping me online for over 15- 20min. I was promised an automatic vehicle. Did not get one as vehicle was ready.

I explained to the person that I required the vehicle ASAP due to work commitments, but this didn't seem to phase anyone at AVIS. They just told me that a vehicle will be available the following day (3rd Nov around 10- 11 am) which was unacceptable.

I spend the entire afternoon using my own airtime calling AVIS asking what is happening with my vehicle, I constantly got cut off and no one bothered calling me back. I spoke to various agents who tried to make arrangements but didn't bother to follow up after the call was cut.

I eventually got hold of a person by the name of Bongani, who told that an agent had secured a vehicle. I was not informed of this and the Centurion branch was already closed. I spend half the day (12:00 pm to 17:00pm) on the phone and not one agent could confirm or inform me that a vehicle has already been booked. It just seems as these guys are really there for a free salary.

I was then later told by one of the agents that a manual vehicle will be booked, and once I reached my work place (Rosebank) an automatic vehicle will be delivered, as I needed a vehicle ASAP and was willing to use the manual vehicle to drive to work. At this point I was extremely furious as the day had passed and I still has no vehicle.

The following day I got to the Centurion branch, and I was greeted by a very distracted lady who in my opinion had not people s****s. She just seem very annoyed to helping me. I received a vehicle, and automatic one, which was not confirmed by Bongani. She charged me a deposit of R1,350, and I was told by my insurance that I would only pay a deposit of R1,300 which is refundable if I returned the vehicle with a full tank of petrol.

I had to make my own arrangements to get to the Centurion branch, and this was suppose to be a courtesy vehicle for me, AS I DID NOT HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE, I received a call after collecting the vehicle (had to make my own arrangements to get there) where I explained to Bongani that I was not comfortable driving the vehicle provided to me (Honda JAZZ), Where he explained that another vehicle will be arranged and dropped off at my workplace.

The vehicle is not very safe to drive, the auto gear box seems to be faulty and the vehicle is leaking after the heavy storm. The vehicle now reeks of a mouldy smell. And i still have not heard anything about another car being dropped off , as suggested by Bongani.

I contacted client services - Nonhlanhla Masuku and the only response I got was an apology, there is no replacement of the vehicle, all my emails and calls seems to fall on deaf ears. NO ONE SEEMS TO BE DOING ANYTHING. I sent a message on twitter to lady called Susan, no response since.

I still have a unsafe vehicle, that is 10 times more expensive than my own vehicle which is in for repairs. No seems to be bothered about the complaints, the overcharge on the deposit and the rude attitude. Just seem like a delay strategy as people are really not interested in quality service.

People please dont use AVIS this holidays they are there to take your money, no customer care and proper care of their clients. Double you will even get your deposit back, they quick to take it but willing to fix the issues.

JUST PATHETIC SERVICE... extremely disappointed, will never use this company again just ****
