<p>I am Malibongwe Manono. I have been a 30 day rental client for Jan, Feb, Mar and partly one for Apr.</p> <p>Whenever I use AVIS/Budget Car rental, I have always done my bookings under Budget car rental online system or at least say at the teller/consultant desk that I want to rent under Budget.</p> <p>My Jan to Feb 30 day rental was successfully signed under Budget and came just about R6000 plus damage costs of just above R2000. My Feb to the 10th March rental went above R12000 for 30 days and I enquired with the customer careline and they said the reason for the difference is that the rental was done under AVIS and I informed the person I spoke to that I do recall that, when the person who was signing my contract wanted to book me under budget as was my preference but with a telephonic reservation of AVIS so when I asked whether it was possible to change it to AVIS because my knowledge has been that AVIS rates were higher than budget since the days when these two were separate entities. The person who helped me told me that there was no difference in the rates and yet when the invoice came I notice that the difference between my 1st 30 day rental and 2nd one was mostly due to the major differences in daily rates. Notice that with the telephonic reservation, nothing was said to me that this is an AVIS reservation as when calling BUDGET or AVIS it all falls into one phone call or number.</p> <p>So again I booked the 3rd 30 day rental (which one initially just for a few days) online and received a budget car hire reservation but I noticed later that my contract was an AVIS as it was also confirmed by someone at the Airport when I took the car back. The guy who attended to me took my contract and came back with an invoice that was apparently discounted taking into account the fact that I was given an AVIS contract for this rental despite my reservation number being a budget car hire one. The new invoice he gave me for this particular came with a total cos of R7566.27 incl VAT. But AVIS debited me R14,619.58 on this rental.</p>
