Poor service

I hired a vehicle from Avis Car Rental in Centurion on 15 December 2017 and returned it on on 21 December 2017. Upon returning the vehicle, there was a minor scratch (less than 3cm) on the on the bottom of the front bumper. I was told that the reserved funds would not be released until the vehicle is first quoted and repaired. I had to wait until 10 January 2017 for feedback that the vehicle had been fixed and it was going to cost me R1299. However, the invoice from the vehicle repair centre shows an amount of R950 paid to the repair centre. When I queried the R349 overcharge, i was told that they charge and accident fee but the standard rate accross the country for minor scratches is R950 accross the country. Clearly, they could have billed the R1299 in December as they already knew beforehand that the damages would cost them R950, however that didnt happen.

Vehicle fixed on the 6th of January, it took another 10 days before the withheld rental amount + fuel deposit was released back into my account. This is after I called them on 16/01/2017 complaining that they ran a debit order on my account despite the fact that they had reserved funds in my account for the purpose of the rental. Having run a debit order or three thousand odd rands, my account was left in arrears as I had not reserved any funds for any debit order. The very funds that were supposed to be released by Avis through my bank, FNB, were still pending a release, yet they went a ordered a debit order on my account.

So, not only did I have to wait 26 days for the matter to be half resolved, but I have been billed an extra day as AVIS says I returned the vehicle on the 22nd of December whereas it was returned on the 21st. Over and above that, I have a bank charge bill to pick up for "authorising" a debit order against my account and a cellphone bill to pay for countless number of calls to the branch and the contact centre that proved fruitless.
