Poor service

Avis defaulted me to credit bureau I then paid the full amount just under a year ago and before payment they promised that they will remove me from credit bureau to my surprise there's still a hit on my profile, I called them and they said it's not their I should contact their lawyers and they lawyers said AVIS should remove me, I am completely dismayed and confused.
