Paying twice for car rental- AVIS Car Rental & CarTrawler, Travelstar

<p>my best friend got married on April 30th, in Cape Town, was looking forward to this joyfull event. </p> <p>I booked my plane ticket and then decided to rent a car. via Travel Star</p> <p>Plane ticket did not accept my debit card as payment and i had to pay EFT to Travelstar.</p> <p> </p> <p>The car rental accepted my debit card payment, with note saying that i would have to bring card with when i pick up car. </p> <p>Received paper work, printed my voucher, - only notes was for credit card, which i did not have so thought not applicable to me.</p> <p> </p> <p> At arrival at AVIS Cape Town International desk the lady requested my credit card, i informed that i paid with debit card i dont own a credit card, after speaking to suppervisor and branch manage, that suggested we should cancell my booking and do it on my friends name as she had correct card. </p> <p> </p> <p>We did as per sugestion, and i was informed that they wil sent my cancellation for refund.</p> <p> </p> <p> We paid the holding deposit on my friends name. After returning the car, the full holding depoisti was returned to my friends account, and 3 days later the petrol and rental was deducted again.</p> <p> </p> <p>CarTrawler informed me that i have canclled in less than 24 hours and therefor i woul be liable for cancellation fee and i would not received my refund.</p> <p> </p> <p>- This was only cancelled as i could not take up rental on my own name due to me not having credit card</p> <p> </p> <p>I spoke to lady at AVIS who investigated and just informed me that holding deposit was refunded, missing the whole point of my complained</p> <p><br />I am paying twice for the rental of a car, once by CarTrawel and once AVIS on my friends name</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>Amanda Gouws</p> <p> </p>
