Overcharging for refeuling

Avis overcharges on refuelling cars.

I hired 2 Cars from AVIS during the past 2 weeks.

1) Group A car (Chev Spark on 31 May) The distance travelled was 180km. AVIS charged a refuelling amount of 19.13litres - 19.13 litres to do 180km in a Chev Spark??? That equates to a consumption of 10.63l/100km - The manufacturer claims 5.4l/100km. The refuelled amount should have been 9.72litres.

2)Group A car (Hyundai I10 on 6 June The distance travelled was 175km. AVIS charged a refuelling amount of 11.66litres - 11.66 litres to do 175km in a Hyundai I10??? That equates to a consumption of 6.7l/100km - The manufacturer claims 4.8l/100km. The refuelled amount should have been 8.4litres.

These fuel consumptions are excessive and unacceptably high, my Jeep gives me those figures. There is some kind of a **** going on there. Avis needs to investigate

It appears Avis does not fuel up the cars properly before delivering them, yet the gauge appears full. The customer thinks the car is full, as the gauge shows it's full, yet it is not.

Or, fuel is syphoned out of the car between the time the customer dropped the car and when the car is refuelled by Avis.
