Overcharged, no response from mgmt. Cape Town International Airport

I recently rented a car with Avis for a week, and was overcharged by 20%+ in terms of the below three items. I have raised a complaint more than a month ago, but still mgmt. has been unable to respond to my queries (below). I have been promised on three occasions now that they are attending to my queries and will respond the same day. But no response.

This is unfortunate as I have been a loyal customer of Avis for many years, but will most likely not use them again.

1. The total quote for my rental was R3314. However R3673 was charged. The rental was returned on time so I don’t understand why I was overcharged. I did not take any extras, insurance etc.

2. Valet charge of R350 – I do not smoke and the car was returned in the same condition as received. However, a valet charge was levied. There were 3 empty boxes at the back of the car – so I got charged R350 for not removing these?!

3. The car had a 40liter petrol tank, and was just below full when I returned it. However I got charged for 17liters of petrol. This is quite bizarre, especially since in light of when I got the car on the first day, it barely did 250km before I had to refill (i.e. it was not even close to full).

4. Lastly, more of an observation – I find it amusing that the AVIS website sites a VW Polo as example of a Class B car. However, when one arrives your get allocated either a cheaper Hyundai or Toyota Etios. This is nothing less than misrepresentation.

Being overcharged by 20%+ constitutes *****, and yet there is very little appetite from mgmt. to engage and resolve this. I definitely would have used another provider had I known that this is the business practises that Avis use.
