Oh, Avis, why so duplicitous and unwavering?

I rented a car for a month at the Avis branch in Hatfield. I decided to return the car earlier as I didn't need the car as regularly as I had thought. I called Avis to ask if I could return it early and they said yes. I returned the car to them two weeks earlier than scheduled with a full tank of gas (receipt and all) and yesterday, my credit card statement showed that for two whole weeks of driving the car for 129 kms I was charged a whopping R6200!!! I complained to Avis stating that no one at the Hatfield branch had warned me of the steep increase in the daily rate if I returned the vehicle early. The matter was reported to the Hatfield branch manager. Her royal highness, Ms van Zyl, took an executive decision that unfortunately they could reduce the rate charged to me. What factors did she take into account when she made this decision? Was it random, arbitrary, biased or did she just decide that she would not entertain my request? Is this how branch managers operate and is there any one else who can cast their mind on this matter to decide, in the interests of fairness, to reduce the rate given that the staff at the Hatfield branch did not inform me of the change in rate if I returned the car early? Is this how Avis Hatfield treats its clients? Or is it just some clients that it refuses to assist? Ms van Zyl, I am a human being, not a robot. Please treat your clients with respect and dignity.

Ms van Zyl said that Avis could NOT refund me a portion of the bill charged.
