Not Sponsors but *******
In the beginning of June we approached Avis Car Rental to provide us with a quotation for the rental of a bakkie. We collect free books from the Rotary Club in Johannesburg on a voluntary basis and then distribute these books to a less privileged school in the village of Kutama in Limpopo. The manager of our local Avis branch then told us that she will arrange a sponsorship for us then we only have to pay R100 per day. This was agreed to and we then collected the books a few weeks later and arranged for a representative from Avis to be present upon presentation of the books. The local newspaper was also asked to take photo's for the newspaper and thereby we arranged for the necessary marketing that Avis had requested. Meanwhile Avis had deducted the full amount that they normally charge, from our credit card. We were told that this is a form of deposit and that it will be reversed as soon as we arrive back and the books are delivered. Once the books were delivered and the publicity provided to Avis, my wife started to enquire about the refund due to us. Each time the manager had an excuse, but assured us that she would sort out the matter. After 3 months of still not receiving any feedback, we contacted Head Office. Avis Customer Care then contacted the Polokwane/Louis Trichardt manager (who we had been in contact with thus far) and after almost a month's correspondence to and fro, she assured us on the 29th September 2017 that our refund would reflect in the credit card account within 7 - 10 working days. After a month this was still not the case. I once again e-mailed Avis Customer Care to ask for feedback. It has been more than a week and I have heard nothing from Avis. We intended to do a good deed in helping less privileged children have a better future by having access to quality books, but in return we have been ****** as we now have the full rental amount of more than R4000 plus interest to pay.
