Never use AVIS when renting a car

<p>Where to start - their service was shocking from the start. Had to wait nearly an hour for collection of the car at Durban airport. When we dropped the car off after the rental period, we were told all was fine and we could go.</p> <p> </p> <p>Then 3 days later I noted that they'd charged my credit card with an amount of R349.50 for a car wash/valet!!! I'm clearly in the wrong business if car wash/valet businesses are charging this amount of money. It took them FOUR days to respond to my email querying what the charge was in respect of. I called them up to complain about this because (a) I was never even informed that they were charging my credit card for this amount; (b) I have hired many cars before, from other car rental companies, and not once have I EVER been charged for a car wash/valet and I've returned cars which were dirtier than in this case (this is Kwazulu-Natal in the rainy season after all, what was to be expected?!); and (c) the most I have ever paid for a car valet is R200 so clearly AVIS wants to milk their clients as much as they can - since when does a car wash/valet cost R350?!! ****************!</p> <p> </p> <p>Needless to say, I will NEVER use AVIS again and I will be sure to tell everyone I know to do the same. Your loss AVIS. </p>
