I'm in PE...saw a vehicle on-line and got in contact with the dealer- Avis Luxury Car Sales, Rivonia, JHB. Salesman is Imtiaaz Hoosan. So we discuss the vehicle telephonically and only before I sign papers he informs me that one of their employees bumped the right head light when getting out of the Avis premises. He said the light was replaced by VW. So i go up to JHB to collect the vehicle, which I was promised around 10am would be delivered to me by 12 noon. Well the vehicle was delivered to me after 17:30...where Imtiaaz found me sitting at the gate...and it was just starting to rain. We drove through heavy rain to Sandton where I signed for the vehicle. Stupid of me not to inspect as I was already fed-up of the wait. So the next day I drove the vehicle to PE, and the following 6 days I was on the road, travelling through the former Transkei. As days went by, while on the trip, I noticed that the bumper on the right side was not properly aligned. So after my traveling I contacted Imtiaaz, who told me i had damaged the vehicle as it had visible scratches. Visible scratches he was talking about were water marks, mind you. I soon discovered that emails are not a favourate thing with Avis Luxury Car Sales...makes me think they don't want to put anything in writing. Well it's understandable considering the way they go about conducting their business. After a few phone calls I was referred to a panelbeater in PE, who said he would need 3 days to work on the bumper. I contacted Imtiaaz to provide me a courtesy vehicle to use during this period. He refused. And told the panelbeater to do the work in 1 day. There wasn't much the panelbeater could do in 1 days so they just tried to align the bumper, which popped the very next day. Again I informed Imtiaaz and sent a picture. He then told me I must take the vehicle back to the panelbeater and it would be there for 3 days. Again I requested a courtesy vehicle. Together with his manager, Gerald Kista, they told me in not so many words that I should be grateful that they are even repairing the vehicle, which was not damaged by them, and would not provide me with alternative transport. So much for all the lies and ducking and diving and what they call customer service. I am inlove with my vehicle, it is what i wanted...without the dent and all the drama around it. Last week the vehicle went in for service and I asked VW to pay much attention to whatever is around the right headlamp. I was not surprised when told that the headlight washer system is broken and leaking due to a bump to the right front corner. ABSA has paid Avis. Gerald Kista and Imtiaaz Hoosan are happy with making a sale and getting away with selling a vehicle that's not up to standard (Imtiaaz having **** about the extent of the damage). He said the vehicle was repaired (well according to him the light was replaced) by VW...and if that poor workmanship is that of VW, I am disappointed. If the panelbeater needs 3 days to work on the vehicle the definitely something is seriously wrong and needs attention.
