Misinformation
I recently booked a car on the 12 of September to collect on the 13th and returned on the 15th September when I was finished with my online booking I called avis national contact centre to confirm the booking and as part of that process I also enquired on how much the total booking would require deposit included and the lady on the other side of the line confirmed that total amount would be just over 6K deposit with-held included, the following morning I called to let Avis know that I would not be collecting the car in the morning (10am) as initially planned and requested to collect the car at noon which I did, when I got to Avis centurion I was told that the total for the rental would be just over 14K and I was buffled as I confirmed with 2 agents and they told me it was just over 6K for my rental but the Avis Centurion told me that the is an additional deposit for weekends that is 10K that resulted in me not being able to collect the car and ended up making another plan. A few days later I received a notification from my bank that AVIS had deducted R440 from my account I am more disappointed in AVIS more than anything else. I work for a Financial services provider in SA and we have a contract with AVIS as we speak I have written a business case to procurement on why we shouldn't use AVIS going forward and are shopping for another provider. I have tried calling AVIS to find out why I was charged an amount when I couldn't collect the car because of misinformation they provided and all the lady could say was that it is process.
