*********** and excessivly overcharged (2x the offer)
In August 2017 we received and accepted an offer from Avis for the hire of a Toyota Fortuner from 14.2. to 10.4. 2018 = 56 Days for ZAR 34'487. After a nights flight we had to wait 3 hours to get an acceptable car (the first was thirty and damaged, the second had 49'000 km - the staff could not give it to us, because it had to be sold with 50'000 km ).
In agreemend with Avis we returned the car 14 days early i.e after 42 days hire. Avis charged thereafter our account as follow: ZAR 65'193 for rent and 6 x 325 = 1950 for administration fees. After weeks and weeks of questioning we found out, that Avis have deducted from our accout: 60 days rent instead of the actual 42 days, damages of 4'900 ZAR, wich never happend, 1800 for a fine in Vanderbijlpark (on that date we were 1'300 km away in Paarl), 1'043 for a GPS-unit, which we never had, since we got one from our friends.
In my request for the offer I stated, that we intend to travel trough Swaziland and require the permission-paper from Avis. We dit not get it with the car and had to go to 4 different Avis-offices to get it finaly 1 day before entering Swaziland.
Today, exactally 4 months after returning the car, we received approximat 2/3 of the to much charged amount and still have to fight for the remainig 5'000 ZAR.
The next time we come to this beautiful country, we will never ever hire a car from Avis again. I would not have tought it possible, that a well known company and its staff could be so ***********.
