Fine incrrectly issued due to copied Vehicle Registration in JHB

I have waited to write this review, as I trusted this matter was going to be resolved quickly.

A car was rented from AVIS Cape Town in August 2020, a White VW POLO Vivo. In Febraury 2021 we received a speeding fine, from the, Ekurhuleni Metro Police DEPT (JHB). Stating that, we have been fined R800 for speeding. This fine obviously being assigned to the ID number, linked to the Registration number of the vehicle.

1) We were no where remotely close that region, being in Cape Town 2) The picture on the fine, clearly shows a Ford Figo Sedan, with the same registration number. 3) I contacted AVIS to have it resolved ASAP on the 10 March 2021, with all relevant documentation supp****, as requested. 4) Received confirmation that the matter will be resolved soonest.

Coming to the 1 October 2021, almost 7 months later, the fine is still reflecting on our name and subsequently notified of a Summons issued for us to appear in court.

I have once again contacted AVIS to have this resolved urgently, with very limited feedback, even though the emails are being read.

We are the innocent victims in this matter, as this is AVIS responsibilty/error, not confirming the Vehicle details correctly and allowing the fine to come to us.

This is very upsetting and not feeling comfortable with AVIS at the moment.
