Extremely disappointed

I contacted the Avis Car Sales-Croydon dealership looking for a VW T-Roc I found on cars.co.za. When we initiated the entire exercise, I called to ask if the vehicle is available and I was not informed that there is another interested party.

Everything went smoothly initially, after we viewed the car, I did clearly indicate that we wanted the car and that I’ll apply for finance. We subsequently went to test drive the car a few days later, where we even discussed a faulty fog light and a panel in the boot that the sales rep was going to look into for us whilst we wait for the bank feedback.

By the end of that week, I was asked for my documents to register the vehicle and again, it was never mentioned that another interested party wanted to purchase. Upon sending a follow up on inquiries I had, I was then informed that the car has been sold. Just like that! Apparently it works on a first come first serve, which was confusing as I was first but was not served first.

When inquiring with other dealerships, the first thing they tell you when you enquire is whether someone else is awaiting finance approval or wanting the car cash so I know it works on first come first served basis, but no one informed me of any such a case when I enquired with the dealership.

It would have been nice to have been told then at least and not be consistently blue ticked when I was enquiring.

Upon lodging my complaint, I was told they would source another vehicle for me, I’m still waiting till today! An extremely disappointing experience!
