DAMAGE CHARGED BUT NO PROOF I WAS RESPONSIBLE | CAPE TOWN AIRPORT
I rented a vehicle in March 2024 from Avis Cape Town Airport. The morning of our return, the vehicle was not checked by a gentlemen which could not really have been bothered. People behind us was immediately helped with going through their vehicle by another Avis employee, this was about 07H30
After I landed in JHB, nearly three hours later, I received an email stating the car has damage and I need to respond to their email, which I promptly did. I escalated the fact that the vehicle was not checked in my presence and sent for a wash after I left. How do I know the vehicle was not damaged while it went for a wash and not in my possession.
The following people was involved with NO HELP AT ALL:
Maxine Calrs (Vehicle Returns Supervisor) Okhule Mashoba (Sales Agent)
None of the above came back with an answer confirming that the damage could have taken place after I dropped off the vehicle.
I called the call centre spoke to Zinhle Madonsela, she waited for the brach more than a week to reply. Only to reply with the same answer of the car did not have damage when I took it and now does. Not confirming that the possibility is there that the vehicle could have gotten damaged in Avis's possession.
I am also in the process of having the bank dispute the funds due to Avis's lack of resolution.
