Collision Damage Waiver doesn't exist BEWARE
I recently hired a car from Avis Capetown Airport

On the day I returned the car (17/4/2014) I made a scratch on the bumper, no dent, and was informed when I returned the car by the man who checked it that there would be no charge as for damage like this I was covered by the Collision Damage Waiver. He also said he would email me the report.

I never recieved an email. And today the woman I rented my accommodation off forwarded me this text message:

Damage was noted on your Avis rental E***. You have been billed R1222.10 excl. To query call *** and quote ref 15/62947

1) why am I being charged R1222.10 when I have CDW.

2) why was no email sent to me as promised.

3) why was a text message of charges forwarded to my accommodation provider after I left the country.

I called Avis this morning but the gentleman on the line could not answer my questions.
