Cheats!! Do not use Avis/Budget
I complained on Hello Peter, they provided lip service and a nonsensical response and did not take my previous review seriously or the proof I provided them that I should have paid an excess and not full damages on my car hire and booking. They hid behind "I signed a contract" but I never had view of the contract, nor were any options or explanations provided until after the vehicles return and after I complained - nor did they acknowledge all contracts are signed in good faith! They did not act in good faith and ripped me off

Thank you for your feedback to your Barcelona Rental.
We understand your frustration and would like to clarify the situation regarding the insurance and damage charges on your rental.
When renting a vehicle, waivers such as the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Theft Protection Waiver (TP) are offered to reduce your financial liability in case of damage or theft. However, these waivers are not full insurance policies and come with important limitations:
Based on our records, even when the vehicle changed, the original booking terms and conditions was in place. The waiver you selected included an excess, but the damage repair costs was the lessor amount, hence you was billed the amount of 987.99EUR and not 2800EUR excess amount.
We acknowledge your concern about not having full visibility of the contract at the time of signing. However we do see that both areas that required your signature was signed. Further to this when the vehicle returned you was supp**** with the check-in receipt which you proceeded to sign again, indicating the Damage repair charge.
If you believe the waiver should have covered more or that the amount was misapp****, please provide any supporting documentation, and we will re-evaluate your case. Our goal is to resolve this fairly and transparently.
Kind regards,
The Avis Team

- Waivers Include an Excess: Even with a waiver, you are still responsible for paying an excess amount—a capped portion of the repair cost.
- Waivers Do Not Cover All Damage: Certain types of damage (e.g., tires, windows,) may be excluded from waiver coverage. If the damage falls outside the waiver’s scope, you remain liable.
