CAR RENTAL: *******/no accountability
In Feb 2020 I flew to Cptn to celebrate my fathers 93rd birthday, a total surprise. The day before I flew back to Jhb, I stayed at a guest house 14km away from the airport. At around 20h00 I refueled the vehicle to the brim and returned to the guest house, 1 km away. The next morning I returned the vehicle to Avis after driving 15.6 km. Then received an invoice indicating they had refueled the vehicle for about R184. Wow, the car must be a guzzler! 1600cc engin. My father passed away just before lock down in March 2020, back to Cptn to sort out funeral and empty house. When I collected the vehicle, during pre use inspection I pointed out the vehicle was 3/4 full to the attendent checking the vehicle, he disagreed with me so I took a photo of the dash board and fuel gauge. I then proceeded to the BP filling station roughly 1200 meters from Avis parking. I filled up the vehicle, roughly R176. I have provided the photo's and receipts to AVIS for re-imbur*****t but after 3 e-mails no response from them. They did actually apologise for the poor service but still no refund. There is no way of being insured that the staff are siphoning off fuel once the vehicle is returned to the parking at rental returns, that the customer is footing the bill for fuel ******. Then there is the question of traffic fines, I have been charged by AVIS a handeling fee in excess of R150 for supposed traffic fines on 3 different occaisons, when I requested copies of the fines, I was told they don't have, so what proof do I have that I'm not being charged for fines which aren't mine or bogus. For the past 10 years, I have not received one traffic fine for a AVIS rental car as they stated they had attached my residential address to the "so-called" fine In other words, they can debit your credit card as they like, without any proof or justification and u must just cough up! This is *****ulant and thievery!
