Avis Van Rental, Gordon street, Pretoria : Agreement ********** 62

1. On Wednesday, 30 January 2019, I reserved the bakkie online and received notification of my reservation. On the day of collection I received a mail that the bakkie I requested is not available. After I complained about the unreliability of the online reservation, I eventually did receive a bakkie.

2. Before I even took the bakkie I requested when the deposit will be refunded. I was told within 3 - 4 days after return of the vehicle.

3. I returned the vehicle at 20h30 on the 3rd of February 2019 and on the 6th checked online for the invoice. I found that it was not yet available even though the system also say that it will be available within 48 hours after return.

4. I called the Gordon road branch just to be told that my deposit will only be returned 5 - 7 working days after return. I did then say that Avis is misleading their clients when they rent a vehicle if they lie about the time it will take to return the deposit. They even let you fill in a bank detail form on rental to speed up the process but the experience after receiving and returning the vehicle is different. Since the deposit is R6 000 and the most expensive rental company, one would expect them to prioritise the customer service.

5. When I asked for the reason why it takes so long, I was told that only after 48 hours they check the system for speed fines and tollgates. They also said they are a franchise and work different from Avis. I was very surprised and shared with them that I often rent for business reasons vehicles and that the invoice is always available within 24 hours after return. I therefor cannot believe that the systems are not similarly interfacing with one another.

6, It is my honest belief that private rentals are very unfair on the client and done in a way to manage the cash flow of Avis. I think Avis is ****ing their own business. I will definitely in future rather use another rental company for private use.
