Avis unwilling to return my "security deposit," threatening my future and self sustainability
I've been awaiting my "security deposit" from Avis since September 25th. This amount, exceeding R20,000, still hasn't found its way back into my account. Avis, on multiple occasions, has pointed fingers at my bank, suggesting that they need to release the funds. However, every time I've consulted with my banker and the individuals at the bank responsible for such matters, they've affirmed that Avis hasn't transferred the so-called "security deposit" back to my account.
This unsettling situation, which appears to be a deliberate part of Avis's business model, has taken a significant toll on me personally. I've had to forgo several personal opportunities, including a crucial payment required for university enrolment to further my qualifications. This has been a dream I've pursued for nearly five years now, and Avis is now jeopardising my future.
What's even more disheartening is the lack of any meaningful response from Avis. On October 16th, Gift Chiloane, their customer care agent assured me in a written email that the money would be back in my account within two days. However, my bank has confirmed that this is not the case. Is see that a lot of other people have had similar experiences. It's time for Avis to stop deceiving me and do the right thing!
Thank you for contacting us,
We have checked with your bank and they have confirmed that the holding deposit was released and made available for you to use, please be advised that when we release the holding deposit, it is not a deposit or a transfer made by Avis into your account, the amount was always in your account but not available for us to use, when your bank releases the amount, it falls back on your available funds, please check with your bank and confirm if there are any amounts still on hold in your account and they would advise that there is nothing pending for Avis, secondly you would need to sit with you and your statement and they will be able to advise when the hold was made available.

Thank you for the feedback,
Please be advise that your bank advised that the holding deposit was released and made available to you, hence on the email we advise that "the information that we provided to you was advised to us by authorization department. "
As you are advising that the has not been released, the communication was sent again to your bank to confirm this,
" @Standard bank, please confirm if we have any pending amount to be release at the customer account? "
With regards to your holding deposit, only your bank can confirm if the amount has been released or is still on hold, we can only advise of their feedback.
