On the 31 October 2024 a car rental from Avis was undertaken. Below is the sequel of administrative inept of the services endured.
The C-class Mercedes-Benz was booked online and paid for it as the amount for booking the vehicle was reflected on the booking on the website. On the collection, a Cherry was offered.
The dissatisfaction was registered with the East London Branch and was offered something similar to the vehicle reserved i.e. BMW X3, which definitely was something similar to the request or expecting to be allocated for as per the booking. Subsequently, an extra amount for the deposit was paid and the cover for the vehicle, to which I duly compile as I do understand the logic behind.
An inspection of the vehicle, which was undertaken only on the exterior. There was no moment where an opportunity was given to affirm that everything on the interior is on satisfactory state or any damages.
Upon returning the vehicle returned the vehicle I was told of the damaged seat, which was very perplexing, given the fact that in all the trip I had of the vehicle, there was no one occupied the back seat nor incident that I can recall that may have led to the damaging of the seat. An amount of R 2394.78 was billed for the damaged seat.
A call was further received from the Branch confirming amount due of R30 000.00, due to excessive accumulation of kilometres in the vehicle, which was later on rectified as that would have meant I had travel to Cape Town or Johannesburg twice with the vehicle on the same night.
On the 11 November 2024 a formal complaint was lodged detailing the above occurrence of events. On the 12 November 2024, the complaint was escalated to the branch. On the 19 November 2024, 14H40 an acknowledgement from the Branch was received from Ms S Groepe, conveying apologies “I have further addressed the Mileage error with my Team at the Branch”. “As a goodwill gesture, I have removed the damage charge from your rental. I trust that you will find all in order”
On the 26 November 2024, 14H59 a follow up was made for the due refund R7922.51. On the 28 November 2024,14H27 a confirmation from Ms S Groepe will be realised by the Merchant Bank. Telephonically follow ups were made on the due refund. On the 17 December 2024,11H33 a confirmation from Mr D Mngomezulu that 48 hours will be allowed to complete refund. Several telephone calls have been made to Ms Groepe and went answered. On the 23 December 2024 no refund has been undertaken by Avis. Please urgently intervene on the matter. Regards
