Avis South African

So i called Avis in my home town George as i needed to rent a vehicle for the first time, getting hold of someone was a task on it's own but eventually i was helped after the 3rd attempt.

I made my arrangements and everything was in order. On the 22nd of February i went to the Avis branch to confirm my arrangements for that Friday the 25th. On my visit the gentleman told me that he could help me change my arrangements as i was only needed to use the car for half a day but i also needed to do about 400km of driving and they only give a range of 200km for a rental of 1day.

So he advised me to rent the car for 2 days for abour R200 more and then i can do my 400km and everyone is happy. I agreed and i booked the car for to days and i asked "well if im paying for to days i can come get the car the Thursday the 24th and drop it off at the airport the next day as im paying for 2 day.

He rep**** that due to availability i can only get the car the friday (25th) so a thought this was abit strange but anyway i just need the car the friday morning to get to my destination without any penalty on going over som KM range.

Got to the airport in george the friday morning (25th) at 6:15am, they opened at 6:30am and after waiting a bit more the gentleman had me signing a document, due to being in a hurry to get to the airport in Capetown for my 12pm flight i signed because everything was in order as i was there to arrange everything on the 22nd.

He hands me the key WITH NOT TAG again dont think much of it its just n plastic tag with a barcode thats missing. Is i understand they sould check the car in with you on the day of pickup but when i asked him are we going to check the car in is just states NO IT'S ALREADY BEEN CHECKED, not following their own rules.

I took the key and left, when arriving in Capetown i was asked were is the key tag and i stated it did not have on so the lay day starts talking about this is a problem and i need to fill out a forum and so on so i asked for her manager and explained everything and he said its fine they wil handle it and i need to gou sign a quick release of my deposit as this was also arranged because i was traveling internationally.

Fill out the form and off we went. I eventually got the invoice from Avis for the rental were i was billed a R100 for a email, over R300 for a key (probably the tag) then almost R2000 for going over the 200km range (but our arrangements were for rhe 400km range) R75 for filling up the car and obviously the fuel i used and the rental fee of R1200 and odd change.

So here we have a invoice for something totally different than i arranged for. The morning of the 25th i paid R3800 for the rental(deposit inc) Thei are biling me R3251.86 but were is my change? This morning at 3am Avis dedicated another R3251.86 off my bank account, a total of R7051.86.

I have sent them numerous emails, the do not take the matter seriously, the one email i git back was a screenshot of were i signed for renting the car for one day and not the arrangement i had.

This is frustrating as im abroad and cant do anything. Avis south African is unprofessional and a ***** and i will suggest no one to use the as my first ever experience in renting a car is absolutely terrible.
