Avis Port Elizabeth Airport - ********** and ******

On 3rd of June I rented a car from Avis Port Elizabeth Airport. I had booked a car in the luxury category as I was attending a special occasion. To my surprise the lady that was helping me demanded that I give her two cards for the rental or else it will be downgraded to a lower category. I have rented cars for many years this was the first of its kind. I gave her my credit as well as my Chequers cards. To my disappointment, despite expecting a Mercedes Bends C Class I was given a dull Audi A2 I then returned to her and explained the car she gave me didn’t meet my expectations. She reluctantly gave me an Audi A3, with Eli on warnings that the car was new bla,bla,bla. I then returned the car on Sunday 06 June 2021, the windscreen had a very small chip which I showed the gentlemen’s who received the car. To my greatest shock Avis has of today charged me R12000.00 to replace the entire windscreen and the R2300.00 rental charge escalated to R6000.00 so they took R18000.00 from my credit card.

They said I waived the tyre and windscreen cover which is a white lie, I never did that. Even for my private car the tyres and windscreen are insured let alone that in all the years since Instarted hiring cars I make sure I take windscreen and tyre insurance this is *****. What I find even more puzzzling is that the rental agreement I have clearly states full cover. So at what stage did I waive the cover let alone the additional insurance I took for the transaction which they overlooked and opted to lay their greedy hands on my money.

By all means stay away from them.
