Avis – Poor Communication, Incorrect Invoice and Unresolved Accident Claim
Avis Poor communication and unresolved billing and accident matter
I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from Avis regarding a recent car rental at Cape Town Airport.
I rented a vehicle from 26 June to 1 July, however, my invoice incorrectly reflects that the vehicle was rented for 11 days. Despite repeatedly following up with Avis to have this corrected, the issue remains unresolved.
During the first day of the rental, the vehicle was involved in an accident after another driver bumped into me. I immediately contacted Avis and followed their instructions to report the accident at the police station. I obtained an accident report number, and the other driver admitted fault. Avis advised me that, as the damage appeared to be minor, I could continue using the vehicle.
Since then, I have repeatedly followed up with Avis for an update on the accident matter and the incorrect invoice. I have also been communicating with Khumo Molefe, who assured me that the matter would be attended to. Unfortunately, despite these follow-ups, I have not received a satisfactory resolution or clear communication regarding the status of the case.
What is particularly concerning is that I have now received an invoice/claim for approximately R30,000, together with communication indicating that legal action may be taken against me, while the original invoice discrepancy and accident matter have still not been properly explained or resolved.
I am not refusing to engage with Avis or resolve any legitimate charges. I am simply requesting clarity, proper communication and a fair resolution. I believe that before threatening legal action, Avis should provide a clear breakdown of the amount being claimed, the basis for the claim, and an update on the accident investigation.
I hope Avis will take this matter seriously and provide a proper response and resolution.
