Avis not returning deposit
I rented a car from Avis (and also from Budget) during October while in South Africa from New Zealand. I am still waiting for my deposit back (for both rentals) and have followed up on numerous occasions. It takes days to get a reply on any of my e-mails. The last reply I received said that there is a backlog...I am still waiting...

18 Nov 2024, 08:35Dear Nicki, Thank you for contacting us. Please be advised that a request has been sent to our merchant bank to advise on the status of the security deposit. Our bank will confirm if the funds are still being held on your account or if they were previously released. Should the bank confirm that the funds are still reserved, a further instruction will be sent to have the funds released back into your account. Please monitor your available balance within 24-48 hours and note that these funds will not reflect on your bank statement as a deposit or a refund as they were not banked by Avis. They will only increase your available balance at the time of release. Furthermore, we do not have the date/time of release because that is administered by your bank. Kind Regards,
