Avis not releasing customer deposits

I rented a vehicle for CPT int airport from 09 Jan - 17 Jan 2026 , and was indicated that my refund would be released after 7 days , today is the 19 February 2026 and the deposit has not yet been released.

I returned the vehicle with a full tank undamaged.

I called the customer service numerous times (+- 5 times) and was indicated they released the funds and I need to contact my bank for the money which is a lie. I contacted my bank and they mentioned authorizations are not relased when a customer calls in as its the job of AVIS . My bank indicated that communication is needed from avis merchant bank to release the funds which has still not taken place.

Your customer service is poor with regards to releasing deposits. I noticed other customer reviews concerning this and I am adding this due to my frustration from AVIS.
