AVIS. Not even trying

We rented a car with a gps from AVIS in April 2021. We returned the car and handed in the gps. Appatently the gps disappeared and after an "internal investigation" AVIS decided to charge "their loss" against our credit card. Disappointing operatis mundi from an company; charging their failures on their customers.
