Avis is ******** me

• I tried to return the car hired on the 2nd Dec 2021 and the consultant told me that I can drive the car to the panel beaters and leave it there. Avis has people who collect cars from reputable panel beaters o I did so and I took pictures as proof and they have a time stamp on my phone o Furthermore there are documents that I signed at the panel beaters to prove that I collected my car from the panel beaters • I then received an invoice around late Dec 2021 saying I need to make payment and I disputed that since I brought back the car in a good condition • I went into the branch and to my surprise, I was told that the car was brought back on the 15th Dec 2021 • I told the team and Nale(the manager) what transpired and she said she’ll investigate and give me feedback • Nale claimed that they had an 074 number they contacted me on and I mentioned that I have 1 number 079******* • I had to take my time and went to follow up on my refund again, that’s when they were adamant that they called me to inform me of the 074 number that I don’t know The team failed to help me even when the information they had was inconsistent. No one could tell me where the car was between the 2nd -15th Dec 2021. They did not even get a tracker report to find out where the vehicle was at the time. I escalated to the Nale's manager who informed me that the insurer extended my rental. This does not add up, and my outstanding amount is now handed over to lawyers without trying to resolve the issue. They had the tools to assist me and give me accurate information but they handed over my account without a proper escalation. I have escalated to iWyze, my insurer at the time but there hasn't been any assistance. I'm being treated unfairly as a customer and I have to pay for a car that both the insurer and Avis can't account for. They could not even give me information about who eventually brought the car in on the 15th Dec 21. They have all the information but I need to make payment even after proving that I did not have the hired car in my possession between the 2nd and the 15th Dec 21.

Hi Linda,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Please be advised that we will look into the damage query and revert to you with feedback. The amount that was due for the rental was R5851.13 which included the rental days, damage query and the windscreen tyre damage waiver.

Avis Team

Best regards,
