Avis - “full” fuel tank

I filled up my car at Shell which is less than 500m from Avis Isando and immediately returned it on the 20th of June. 3 days later I have been charged R98.86 for Avis to fill up the car with 2.22L. Nearly R50 per liter! The person who inspected the car upon me returning it checked the tank was full which it was!

How on earth is anyone then meant to return a “full” tank. How do you come to the conclusion it is 2.22L. You had to drive the car back to the petrol station and who on earth knows where else you drove the car over the 3 days!

Also I received the car with various scratches. Am I going to wake up tomorrow or in 2 weeks time to find out you’re billing me for previous damage I didn’t cause!

I would like to let everyone be aware it has been 2 business days since Avis has acknowledged this reply and I am yet to be contacted by them.

So far it doesn’t seem they are sincere about investigating this

Hi Alex,

Thank you for the response,

We investigated the fuel charge and found that this was billed in error when closing your rental, we have credited the charge and cleared your account off our Debtors.

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.

There are no damages billed on the rental.
