Avis deposit
I rented a vehicle from Avis... paid my deposit. Took the car Back and was told I would get get my deposit back in 7 to 10 working days. Today was the 10th working day and nothing. I called Avis who said they would request the Bank to release the funds. This afternoon there was still nothing. I went to the office and a call was made to head office.... they will let me know in 48 hours. This is just ridiculous. Quick to take the money but a battle to get it back.

Our team sent the request to the bank yesterday. The deposit automatically releases to your available balance once the invoice is charged. The request sent is to confirm if the deposit was released or if it is still on hold.

30 Nov 2022, 15:24Thank you. It is still reflecting as an outstanding card authorisation on my account as at 18 October. My problem is why do I have to query this... when the car was handed back this should have been finalised that same day! It seems as if somebody didn't do their work a now I have to just be ok with it. I understand it takes time to clear but if it was done on time then I would not have had to query this. I have debit orders running now at month end and need this money in my account today please to prevent items being returned ... this will be for Avis to rectify. Also please teach you employees to say that you need to query the deposit before anything will be done to pay it back...not tell clients 7 to 10 working days. I am sorry I am upset but the car has been returned for like 2 weeks already and the funds are not returned. So frustrated with your system. Yesterday at the office it was said that I am not the only customer to get my deposit back so it does take time.... if your staff did what they were supposed to do then I would have had my funds back already. I have hired cars previously from Avis and never had a problem like this before. Funds actually returned to my account before the car was returned. Please SORT it out TODAY. IT IS NOW URGENT!!!

According to the bank, the authorisation/deposit is no longer on hold. This means the pending transaction was automatically released to your available balance. Please note that any feedback we provide is given by the customer's bank.
