AVIS CAR RENTAL Ordeal

I returned a hired car on 28 March 2018. The car was inspected, and after inspection (by two guys) I was told to go it's fine. Nothing was given to me, the next day (29 March 2018) the money was deposited back to my bank account.

Surprisingly, on 10 April 2018 (thirteen days later), I received an sms that stated I'm been billed R2987.72 (damages only subject to change), and if query I must call their head office on ********** 209.

I then called their head office on that number they supp****, on the same day (10 April). I was assisted by a lady called Nonhlanhla Radebe and I explained to her what transpired. She then took it up and sent an email of enquiry to Annelize Bezuidenhout at Bloemfontein Downtown Branch, which she copied to me also.

Nonhlanhla told Annelize what I explained and she asked her to investigate and revert back to the customer (which is me) within 5-7 working days.

There was no response until Nonhlanhla sent a follow up email on 16 April to Annelize and there was no response also. Nonhlanhla then sent another follow up email on 19 April asking Annelize whether she gave a customer feedback yet. Annelize responded on 19 April by saying (copied to me also), "I have given feedback regarding this query to you. Query resolved on my side. What is still outstanding? Then Nonhlanhla rep****, "I did not receive feedback yet, please can you give customer feedback as well."

That was the last email I received since then until I received a letter dated 04 April 2018 from the Post Office. The letter was from Avis and the subject line was, "RE: AVIS RENT A CAR - R3435.87 (excl costs & interest)

I received another sms on 24 April stated that I must pay within 7 days. The sms contained the email address, ********** . I then emailed to that address on 24 April explaining my situation and referring to two sms"s I received. The mail was opened but I was never responded to.

On May 11, 2018 I received another sms stating that R3435.87 is still outstanding, and this will now be handed over.

I then emailed to Enock email address on 15 May pointing out that I have sent "him" an email before but "chose" to ignore it and sending me sms"s. I told "him" he now prompted me to seek legal advise as I can not explain myself further. The email was also opened but never responded to.

On May 21, 2018 I received another sms stating amount of R3435.87 which is still outstanding and will now be handed over.

I didn't do anything after that sms until I received, on 15 June 2018, an sms that stated, "LEPHALO, your Avis Acc has been handed over to CWX for collection".

Now, last week on Wednesday 20 June, I received a call from CWX (Credit Worx) telling me they are calling in connection with Avis account. I explained to that lady (I didn't ask for her name) my situation and told her I was not even given an invoice. She told me that she will call Enock or straight to their head office and she will get back to me. The other lady called me the following day on Thursday saying the same thing, and I had to ask her whether is the same person I spoke with yesterday (Wednesday) and she said no. I then told her that someone said will take it up with Avis, and she said "ok" and then hang up.

Now I'm still waiting for feedback.
