AVIS CAR HIRE *****ING FROM CUSTOMERS

Stansure my insurance hired a car for me for 30 days through Avis.

But because my car was not ready after 30 days I called Stansure to request a 14 day extension

Stansure informed me the extension was granted. On that strength I kept the car

On the 9th day of my extension I got a call from Avis informing me that my extension had expired 5 days ago (contrary to what Stansure informed me)and had to return the car which I comp**** to on that very day.

Now Avis is personally billing me for the 5 days rental and admin fee of R500 for returning the car late.

Yet when the extension was granted by Stansure (an amendment to the initial agreement) Avis never contacted me to inform me of such a material amendment to the agreement. Furthermore, why did they wait until the 9th to inform me that my extension had expired? This is an ********* and unacceptable kind of business practice by Avis aimed at boosting their revenue through ************ means. Anyone doing business with Avis has to be extra careful, actually there are plenty of better car rental companies out there like Thrifty.
