AVIS bad experience

Bad and poor experience from AVIS Car hire. Please note I used AVIS previously and never experienced poor service. Incident 1: relates to work hire where i collected a car from Capetown International Airport 08 July and the car was not pre inspected with a AVIS person before i left the airport and on my return i was falsely charged for rear bumper dent when it was already on there when i collected the car. People should take note and never ever drive off with hired car after getting signed off detailed inspection report.

Incident 2: Occurred family holiday, booked the car with Mango and did not realise that Mango only reserves the car for you and does not include it in the charge which was misleading as it gives the false impression that the car hire charge is included in the total flight and car hire package cost.

Picked up the car on the 25th July from King Shaka International, realised car was not paid for and had to use my credit car. Next i was informed that my specific car that i hired was not available so i was given a Toyota quest which was badly maintained . I learnt my lesson from incident 1 and made sure i get a full inspection report. The car had dents and scratches all around including damaged wheel caps. 30 km into the trip i heard a noise from the suspension and pulled over and noticed that the plastic undercovers were completely loose and hanging on the ground dragging while we were driving. The noise made us feel extremely unsafe but I made a call to continue driving as i was losing time on my holiday. When i reached my hotel , i called Avis and made them aware of the problem but no one was willing to come and exchange the car , it was left to me to drive car to Margate at my own cost etc yet i was inconvenienced by AVIS for giving me a car in a terrible condition and potentially unsafe. To top it off i was charged an unwarranted valet for the car when i dropped off the car at King Shaka. Thank you AVIS for spoiling my family holiday experience, it was meant to be a special experience as it was a birthday holiday for myself and my daughter but it ended up being spoilt with this poor maintained vehicle that was given to me. Never will i use AVIS again.
