Avis **** agency - No refunds
I am extremely disappointed with the handling of my recent rental refund by Avis Vereeniging.
I rented a vehicle from 20 January 2026 to 21 January 2026 (Rental Agreement ***). At the time of rental, two separate authorization holds were placed on my card instead of a single R11,000 hold. The amounts were R3,482.69 and R7,520.00. R3482.69 amount was refunded INSTANTLY while standing at their counter, but somehow the other amount takes 30+ days to "process".
Upon returning the vehicle, the final rental amount was R1,071.63. I was advised that the balance would be refunded accordingly. However, the refund did not reflect in my account.
I followed up on 22 January, 26 January, and again on 19 February 2026. Each time, I was informed that the refund had been processed. My bank has confirmed that no refund has been received.
More recently, I was told that “their bank cancelled the refund to prevent *****,” yet no written confirmation from the acquiring bank has been provided. I also requested ARN/RRN reference numbers and official proof of payment, which have still not been supp****.
In addition, when attempting to contact the branch telephonically to follow up in a calm and friendly manner, my calls have either gone unanswered or were ended without engagement. This has made it extremely difficult to resolve the matter directly with the branch.
They also refuse to provide written proof of refund payment or refund processing attempts.
Don't waste your time renting you will spending and lose more money and time just trying to get your refund which in todays day and age is instant.
Thank you for sharing your reference number. We sincerely apologise for the frustration and inconvenience caused.
We have escalated your query to the Vereeniging branch for urgent investigation regarding the outstanding refund and will revert to you as soon as we receive feedback.
