The usual "dont care" attitude from estate agents

I am sure most people who rent property can agree. This is not just a review on Averil Brink and their rental agents, such as Colleen Brink (who also clearly owns the company, so this attitude comes from the top.), "no care" attitude, but can be said for most rental agencies regarding property. They just don't care. They believe they hold all the cards and do not have to give prospective rental tenants the respect and common decency most of them deserve. In this specific instance, Colleen met us at a unit she was assisting in renting out in Pinelands, Cape Town. After a brief viewing, she saw us off. We were interested in the place and filled out the necessary application and sent back to her. The next day, when I phoned to find out if she received all required docs, she told me quite quickly that the unit was taken by someone else. Wow, that was fast, but ok, that was that then.

A couple of weeks later, I see that their advert is still displayed on one of the main, more popular property websites, the same website we found the property on. So it has not been rented out yet? So why lie about it? Just say we were not suitable so we can move on. Why lie about it, I feel like mentioning again? Perhaps by letting us know why we were not suitable, could assist us in improving whatever we need to improve on the next available property we pursue?

Disgusting. But again, they do not care. They receive their cut from the landlords plus all the ******* charges they impose on the tenants too, such as cleaning charges, admin charges etc etc..... they are cut throat ********* creatures from the deep (Or at least, behave like that). Its all about the money, no need for after-sales service, or even common decency. After all, they, as agents (agents of the devil more like) hold all the cards so who cares how we treat tenants, both prospective and current. Just pay so we do not kick you out and blacklist you! Remember, we might be small people, but are still human beings, just like you. Treat people with respect, regardless of who they are. And most of all, treat prospectives like clients, not just another irritating person wasting your time after hours viewing a property. After all, we did not choose your career, you did. So deal with it and deal with it professionally.
