Avalanche 'all' weather ski slope Cedar Square Fourways Jhb

I have offered AVALANCHE, based at the Cedar Square Shopping Centre, Fourways an opportunity to respond on two occasions, I also copied in the centre managing agents who, have also failed to respond, so, I have decided to use this platform to warn the parents of using AVALANCHE 'all' weather ski slope as a party function.

The 'slope' is used as an attraction for kids parties.

The 'slope' is not in any condition to support kids parties.

• ‘as is’ the slope mat or carpet is shocking, it has worn badly meaning a small fall or slip will leave a nasty burn. • ‘as is’ the tubes are shocking. • ‘as is’ the gloves are siff, and that is being kind, one hopes the kids wash their hands before eating. • The overall experience, shocking, simply shocking! My son and his mates were all very disappointed.

Their best assets are the male staff who ran them selves broken trying to make the slope work, they tried everything.

The slope mat and those horrible tubes and gloves must be retired. Adding water was a little help, but when the mat is so badly worn it’s simply a waste of water. Lastly, in an attempt to make the slope quicker the staff deployed a mobile ramp, great idea but …. If the slope is dry and kids aren’t moving then why? All that was going to happen is some one will get hurt, and someone did! Saturday 12th September 2 - 4pm session, my son was, as witnesses have inform me, ‘helped’ along by a staff member down the slope on his tube and just before making contact with the portable ramp he was again ‘helped’ along by a staff member causing his tube to be pushed off the portable ramp – the tube flipped and he made a few cartwheels, a bounce or two later he was helped up by his mother and some of his mates.

He limped off to the centre toilets to clean the carpet burns. A female staff member did come forward and offer some first aid in the form of burn creams (quite a variety) to assist the burns for which I was most thankful for, but what struck me was this has clearly happened before. What started off as dismal ended up in tears.

I have raised the concern with the centre management, as they surely need to know and step in to ensure the environment is safe going forward, after all the slope is designed for the kids and no one should want to see or afford to see kids get hurt.

Centre Mgr. (ACCELERATE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT) has opted not to comment or reply suggesting I deal with the tenants directly, oh what games we play! Carpet burns today and maybe a broken arm tomorrow … BE WARNED
