Autozone

I bought a battery at Autozone last year in may and the battery started giving me problems even though its under a year old. So today i went to Autozone in Gonubie in East London and the salesman told me that it's company policy that the take the battery and test it and charge it for not less than 4 hours before they can decide i they replace it. So I'm asking what I'm supposed to be doing while they charge the battery. Is what they are doing legal?
