Customer liable for parts broken by Autoworks
ON 22 Feb 2016, I booked my car in at Autoworks strand to replace both Outer CV boots. During the process, the autoworks technician damaged the outer CV joint to such an extent, it warranted a replacement.
To my disgust, autoworks insisted that I be liable for the costs of this part, set at R1720 incl.
After attempting to get clarity from the owner, Gunther, I had no choice to pay as I could not allow my car to stay for another day. Gunther refuses to engage with customers and sends messages via his staff.
To make matters worse, on fitting the new parts, autoworks damaged and broke the suspension tensioner. I guess they felt bad and therefor decided that they will cover the cost of this part at a whopping R300.
To add insult to injury, i've been servicing both vehicles at their strand branch for 6 years now, with an average annual spend (services and maintenance) of +- R10000

When i went to settle the invoice, autoworks pointed out that in their terms and conditions (a poster in their office AND NOWHERE ON THEIR WEBSITE OR INVOICE) that autoworks is not liable for parts damaged/broken during the process of a repair being carried out.

I am done with autoworks!
