AutoWorks Strand ... better than the Agents!

I'm the proud owner of a 2007 Fiat Panda 1.4 litre HP 100.

On Thursday evening, the 5th September 2019, I was driving back from Pringle Bay to Somerset West.

As I approached the Paardevlei Development my vehicle, without warning, suffered Engine trouble.

Fortunately, I was only 2-3 km from home, and able to arrange to get my vehicle safely home.

I contacted Outsurance the next day, to make the necessary arrangements, and then phoned Rola Fiat Somerset West, to confirm their availability to check my vehicle.

I was informed by the Fiat Service Adviser, that they would not be able to check my vehicle. She told me that they are not equipped to do a Basic Engine Diagnostic Check on vehicles older than 2017! To her credit, she gave me the contact details for ALF Pro Center Gordon's Bay.

I phoned ALF Pro Center, spoke to Dulci Morais, who informed me that they would only be able to assist me on Monday afternoon. They were fully booked for Friday already, but just had a cancellation for Monday. Even a Basic Engine Diagnostic Check could only be done then. To her credit, she promptly forwarded me a Quote, and within 15 minutes ... Nogal!

But, then I remembered one of my clients Mr Barry Ludorf, recommending AutoWorks Strand.

So I gave them a call.

And to my surprise, I was put through straight away and spoke to Bruce Martin. And we hit it off right away!

Now here was a man you could talk to, he took the time to listen to my story, and suggested right away, that if I could arrange for my vehicle to be brought to the Workshop, he would gladly squeeze-in the Basic Engine Diagnostic Check that afternoon. He would charge me only R632 for the Job.

I told him I would do so right away and arranged for my vehicle to get to Autoworks Strand.

The Basic Engine Diagnostic Check involves plugging in a Handheld Bosch Certified Device into a socket normally situated in the dash of Driver's side of your Vehicle. It analyses the "Black Box" telemetry of the vehicle, detecting when the Engine problem occurred, and what failure resulted. This all happens within 2 minutes from plugging in. My problem ... Ignition Coil Failure Cylinder 4.

Bruce instructed Shepherd, one of his mechanics, to disassemble the Engine Cover to get to the Ignition Coils. He removed the faulty one, replaced it with a Spare I had, reset the Engine Diagnostic Telemetry, turned the ignition key and ... Viola ... my Fiat was humming like a baby again.

Bruce and his team at AutoWorks sorted out my problem within 10 minutes.

I highly recommend, even owners of older vehicles, to give AutoWorks a try.
