Negligence by Autowiel TyreMart Menlyn
Good day On the 18th February 2020 i visited Autowiel TyreMart in Menlyn to do wheel balancing and alignment. The car was serviced for these two and tested afterwards. I was told that the camber on both wheels front and rear (left side) was off by certain degrees and needed attention. I gave a go ahead for the staff to attend to the problem immediately and then they carried out the job on the left rear wheel successfully and i paid R450, 00. One of the staff member tested the car and came back. I was then told that they could not do the front tyre. I said its ok i don't have much time will come next when I'm in town. I got inside the vehicle with my 9 year old son and drove off, approached the circle and drove towards Menlyn Mall. When i took off from the second robot after lighting green, the Bonnet of the car went up and hit the Windscreen (15h04). I couldn't see anything and i had to do was brake immediately put on hazard sign, close the Bonnet and get to the side of the road to avoid further accident and injuries. We both had glass splatters all over us and i had to take a blanket to cover myself so that i can drive back to the Autowiel TyreMart dealership. I made a u-turn on Menlyn Mall entrance robots driving slowly with hazards on and hardly less than 8 min since i left the dealership, I got to the dealership and showed the staffers that worked on the car the vehicle. One staff member said he did not check the bonnet if it was properly closed. I was not attended to by senior staffers, only after 30 minutes, Timmy called me to his desk and showed me the footage Sent from my Huawei phone of the staffer closing the Bonnet from below. I told him that the staffer closed the binnet whilst below the car with the tip of his hands and did not further recheck as a standard practice just like everybody does on daily basis. I told Timmy that i'm not the last person to have worked on the Bonnet, they opened the bonnet and did not verify if its tightly closed. The time was still around 3pm. I told Timmy we need to be home in Burgersfort and should process claims from their company insurance for the damages and said he can't do that but can do that only the following day 19th February 2020. I asked him a few questions, how do we get home? He answered by sayung he doesn't know, also asked if he expects us to drive tje car in its current situation, no answer from him. Just before 17h00,he called Arnoux, his manager, i explained what happened and posed same questions and he said he could help but not that time and we told that we (wife included) need to be at work the following day. After long discussion the manager lost his temper after we told him that his insurance must fix the car nit ours and started swearing (poepol) again saying we are impossible. He then conceeded and gave the tyremart branded toyota bakkie to us to travel to Burgersfort. We took the bakkie and left, leaving the Bmw e92 (BF86BG GP) at the dealer. We were promised that they would fix the car. Dr J. B MOSS
