AVOID AUTOSTAD

In the past, I have been reluctant to fit used motor parts on to my vehicle as friends & colleagues have warned me about their bad experiences and the high prices charged for 2nd hand spares. Their warnings were borne out and I vouch to never set foot in another used spares dealer ever again

I took my damaged part to Autostad and enquired whether they could supply a 2nd hand replacement. I inspected the supp**** part and it had a few scratches & chips and I would probably need to have it resprayed. I informed the guy behind the counter that I will visit a second spares dealer and see if I could get the part without the need for respraying, but will be back if the part at the second dealer is in a worse condition. The salesman’s attitude & whole demeanor changed and said that this is not how it works. He moaned that someone had to go to the trouble of fetching the part and I am basically wasting his time. I told him what he can do with his part and stormed out. I called the owner, (Theo) to query if this behavior is acceptable and all he said is that he would have a chat with the salesman.

Lesson learned, I went to the Mercedes agents and paid the full price!
