Dangerous Vehicle Sold – No Accountability from Dealership

I am deeply disappointed and concerned about the experience I’ve had with AUTOHUB EDENVALE (98 Van Riebeeck Ave, Edenvale, 1609) listed on a trusted platform (Auto Trader). I purchased a BAIC vehicle, believing I was dealing with a reputable seller. What followed was not only frustrating but potentially life-threatening. Shortly after receiving the vehicle, I noticed serious mechanical issues. Upon inspection at BAIC South Africa, it was discovered that several bolts were dangerously loose—so much so that they could be removed by hand. BAIC South Africa confirmed that this posed a major safety risk: the wheels could have locked up while driving, potentially causing the car to flip. This wasn’t a minor fault—it was a critical failure that could have resulted in serious injury or worse. Soon after, the car started overheating so badly that it gives off a sharp burning smell, making it feel like a fire hazard. We ’ve had to involve legal representation to pursue a refund, as the dealership has refused to take responsibility. The owner has made it clear that he does not speak to customers directly, and communication has been evasive and unhelpful. Beyond the safety concerns, the vehicle has had multiple unresolved issues: • The radio still doesn’t work, despite me informing the salesperson from the start. • The sunroof leaked every time it rained. After the fourth or fifth time the car had to go back, the speakers stopped working too. • The workshop scratched the car during one of the visits. When I informed the salesperson, he simply walked away and said, “Speak to the director.” • I’ve repeatedly asked for the director to call me. It’s been over two months — no call, no apology, no accountability. They are quick to sell you a car, but once the deal is done, you will receive no service. The attitude is dismissive, arrogant, and unprofessional. I’ve had to involve legal representation just to pursue a refund, as the dealership refuses to take responsibility. To make matters worse, I later discovered that this same dealership AUTOHUB EDENVALE (98 Van Riebeeck Ave, Edenvale, 1609) had sold a rebuilt, previously written-off vehicle to another unsuspecting buyer. This pattern of behavior is not only *********—it’s dangerous.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this dealership or the platform that continues to host them without taking action.
