AUTO CARE - FRITZ LEPNIK

Just before lock down 2020 I took my vehicle to Auto Care - Fritz Lepnik to have my BMW320d serviced. After a couple of days not hearing from anyone, I phoned and was told that there is a problem but they are struggling to find the cause. After another couple of days I received a call informing me that the one of the cylinder heads had warped (this was the first time Fritz has seen this). I was offered 1. to have the engine removed and sent to engineers which will take 3 weeks and cost R30 000 or he can provide me with a almost new (25 000 km) engine. I opted for the new engine. I receive the vehicle back during lockdown and because I was not driving, I only later noticed the oil leak. Informed Fritz who graciously offered to have it sorted for me. On driving my vehicle for the first time, the radiator light came on. I stopped at a service station and when the radiator cap was opened, litres of oil came pouring from the radiator. This was the first of 8 breakdowns for the same issue and 5 trips on a flatbed to Auto Care's workshop. Needless to say, by this time I was furious and had no faith left in my vehicle or Fritz. The last visit to Fritz saw the crankshaft replaced. All went well for about a month and "bam" the radiator light went on again just to find a water pipe broken off the engine. As this part never fails, there were no parts available in South Africa and another mechanic had to figure out a modification to solve the problem. Then the cherry on the cake was a summons to appear in court for a speeding fine during the time my vehicle were at Auto Care (105 in a 60 zone). This requires a trip to court. Fritz refuses to take responsibility for this unless I can prove to his satisfaction who the driver of the vehicle were (even though the vehicle was in Auto Care's possession during that time). Think twice or even five times before choosing Auto Care - Fritz Lepnik
