Windscreen Replacement with R30,000 vehicle damage and no repair to damage

21 March 2017 I travelled to Benoni and my windscreen got cracked whilst travelling. I reported to Discovery Insurance and I was informed to go to Autoboys Rustenburg. A week later I was requested to bring in my car (2016 Fiat 500) to Autoboys Rustenburg for fitment of the new windscreen. I dropped it around 09h00 and 14h00 went to collect, the windscreen rubber was approx 1cm away from the windscreen. I complained and the tech said to put double sided tape or silicone..I WAS NOT HAPPY. They said they will remove and replace again.

5pm they called and said it is done, they dropped at my work and said if any issues please contact. I did. Many issues: R30,000 damage caused.

The following morning I reported to my insurance with photos and to Autoboys.

The owner of Autoboys Rtb came to see me and wanted their HO to assess, my vehicle was going to the Fiat dealer in Jhb for repairs, so agreed they would see there as HO is in Jhb. My car stood at Fiat in Jhb for a week waiting for Autoboys.

My car came back from Jhb and I was instructed by Discovery Insure to take it to a Panelbeater here for assessment, which I did 11 April (two weeks after reporting).

The assessment came through at R30,000 with dash damaged, side posts damaged, headliner damaged, dent on my bonnet...this to a new vehicle with only a windscreen to be replaced.

Since this response from assessor and submisson by Discob=very to Autoboys to repair there has been NO feedback whatsoever. Noi responsibility to repair my vehicle or even feedback on the process. Last communication from Discovery to Autoboys via email (whole email history available) was 26 April. Now 7 weeks later I am still sitting with R30,000 damage to my vehicle which has not repaired and Autoboys is not doing anything at all, Discovery not taking it further either.

Is this what service is called in our times??!!

Windscreen Replacement with R30,000 vehicle damage and no repair to damage:

I have investigated and learned that the payment for the repairs to this vehicle due to fitment damages incurred has already been made to Panelbeating Unlimited, Telephone : *** / ***, Ref number : 93525, and that the Panel beaters are due to contact you this morning to arrange the repairs required.

From an Autoboys perspective I would like to sincerely and humbly apologise for the inconveniences that you have experienced and I am glad that payment has now been effected to resolve the fitment damages incurred.

Yours Sincerely,

Michael van Kerkhof

Unfortunately this is still ongoing.

This type of delay in this entire process and the distress this situation has and is still causinig is totally unacceptable.

I will be comofortable when my car uis repaired back to a quality state that it should be and we are comopensated for the two month delay relating to inconveinces, financial and emotional distress we have to face during this period, as we had to do most of the work to have this resolved which interrupted my working hours at the company I am employed with to a state frustration from our Directors.

This cannot be acceptable to have go through this type of damage to your property and then still have to hassle your way through two months of problems and delays and the client suffers this much. This is not what you can call service, or even after sales service.

I am truly disgusted Michael. This will not be last of it, trust me as I am now in a position where my planned potential sale of my vehicle is in the balance depending on completion date of this work, thus we may loose the deal.

Good morning Mr. Saincic,

Thank you for taking my call again this morning. As discussed apologies once again. I understand that the delay which we are presently experiencing is due to NetAssess quotation not being accurate. I have spoken with the Panel beater Neil at Dent Tech who relayed to me that he will have the appropriate amended quotation for Autoboys Rustenburg to approve ready today.

As discussed Neil has relayed that the parts required for the repairs on your vehicle have already been ordered and once we have the quote from Dent Tech the repairs can proceed asap.
