Lack of accountability on faulty glass fitment
**Lack of accountability on faulty glass fitment**
My car was unfortunately involved in a rear impact accident which resulted in the back window being shattered.
After spending a month at the panel beaters getting repaired, the glass fitment was done by Autoboys at the panel beaters.
Once I collected my car, after a week of driving it since it’s repair, while parked at work, the rear window shattered on its own. Speculation was given that it could be due to the heat and change in temperatures that may have caused the window to shatter. I called my insurer to let them know what happened and they told me they’d follow up with Autoboys to find out what might have happened (my insurer at the time was Outsurance which also handled the matter poorly).
After much back and forth between myself, my insurer and Autoboys, I was then asked to go to their Roodepoort branch where they’d do an assessment. Upon arrival, the assessor tasked with the job of verifying what the cause was simply said that there was no fault in their fitment and that they weren’t at fault.
Upon taking my car to be assessed by PG Glass, the glass used was generic, the fitment of the rear de-fogging connectors were incorrectly placed and simply stuck onto the glass with glue, and the sealant used was improperly app**** with inconsistencies of on thickness in certain areas.
I unfortunately had to fork the bill on the replacement of the glass with Autoboys not taking any accountability.
They list themselves as 100% accountable on their site which is far from the truth!
